Wajima-nuri, Red Tsubomiwan

¥35,200

A handmade bowl using locally grown zelkova wood, turned on a lathe by a third generation craftsman. The shape was inspired by the shape of a flower bud and when cupped between the hands feels like an act of prayer. Solid wood was left at the base to give the bowl a grounding feeling only achievable with real wood. It uses the traditional Wajima-nuri techniques and has been finished in high quality red urushi, the colour of protection and celebration in Japan.
